1 Post-Doc position (m/f) in Computational Social
Science
(TV-L 13, 100%, 4 years)
The department for Computational Social Science is looking for a candidate with a background in social science, psychology, information science, computer science, science & technology studies, or related fields. Good programming skills (especially mining and analysis of web data/ social media/ social streams) and skills in statistics are required. Additionally, experiences in at least one of the following fields are desirable:
Empirical methods in social science
Data management
Knowledge representation, linked data, semantic web
Social network analysis
Data visualisation
Web usability, user studies
Scientometrics / bibliometrics
The candidate will be involved in establishing new services for social scientists (e.g. research datasets, tools, tutorials) and is expected to contribute teaching units to GESIS events like summer schools, winter symposia etc.
The candidate should conduct cutting-edge research and develop services in one or several of the following domains:
New research data for the social sciences
Social media analysis and methodology, digital methods
Web-user studies, social media usage, social media demographics
Scholarly communication, open science, science 2.0 or altmetrics
Social Semantic Web, social tagging

The candidate should have completed (or should soon complete) a PhD. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of independently designing and conducting research and publishing results in competitive conferences and journals. The open position is intended to serve as a platform for promising researchers (i) to strengthen and develop their own research profile, (ii) to conduct and publish highly competitive research, and (iii) to acquire research grants.
