Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m) in animal models of neurodegeneration
The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) investigates the causes of diseases of the nervous system and develops strategies for prevention, treatment and care. It is an institution within the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres with nine sites across Germany (Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten). The DZNE cooperates closely with universities, their clinics and other research facilities.
The DZNE in Bonn is looking for a

The laboratory of Dr. Erdem Gültekin Tamgüney is focused on understanding how disease-associated proteins misfold, aggregate, spread, and damage the brain. We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in this group to work with mouse models of neurodegeneration to elucidate disease mechanisms causing synucleinopathies and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
The successful candidate will be fluent in English.
At least 3 years of experience in working with mouse models of neurodegeneration, in paraffin- and cryosectioning, in immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining of tissue sections, and in confocal microscopy.
Experience in preparing and culturing primary neurons and organotypic brain slices, in conducting behavioral experiments, in protein purification, or with biophysical methods to study protein misfolding and aggregation is a plus.
An interesting and challenging task in a research center that works on the future topics of health research.
An international environment characterized by a strong focus on science and research.
The opportunity to utilize state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
Targeted personnel development.
Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst - TVöD Bund).
