Job description
The position is offered in the context of the three year H2020-funded VRE4EIC project, with case studies in the context of complex international, cross-disciplinary studies in the life and earth sciences. The project goal is to increase the interoperability of existing Virtual Research Environments through the creation of infrastructure that supports data- and compute intensive experiments in multidisciplinary settings. Challenges include understanding complex user requirements, interoperability within computational workflows consisting of heterogeneous data and software components, and dealing with erroneous, incomplete or biased data.
Requirements
Candidates are required to have a completed PhD in the area of Computer Science or a related discipline, with an affinity for empirical methods and an excellent publication record. Candidates are expected to operate in an international research team and publish in top conferences and journals in their field. The postdoc will be responsible for managing the interaction with project partners.
Needed qualifications for candidates include proven research talent and good academic writing and presentation skills. Candidates are expected to have an excellent command of English.
Conditions of employment
The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres ("CAO-onderzoeksinstellingen"). The gross monthly salary for an employee on a full time basis, depending on relevant work experience, ranges from € 3,218 to € 4,577. The appointment will be for a period of three years
Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.33%. CWI offers attractive working conditions, including flexible scheduling.

Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) is the Dutch national research institute for mathematics and computer science and linked to the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).
